Call it scientism if you like, but when we get an infection, we rely on antibiotics. Antibiotics will cure your infections far beyond what can be attributed to randomness or placebo. Science has proven to be remarkably accurate in predicting outcomes. It excels in telling us when the moon will rise or what the weather will be tomorrow, unlike all other approaches. In fact, predicting outcomes is precisely what defines science and distinguishes it from pseudoscience, bad science and all the other stuff.
