Traditional hypothesis-driven research is also rooted in data or observation, followed by developing a model/hypothesis. AI-generated models based on big data follow same concept.

Whether it’s Darwin in the Galapagos or the many projects rooted in observations from genomics data, biologists have been scouring data to generate hypotheses for quite some time. I fail to see a paradigm shift at this level.
