In this paper, adapted from one of his thesis chapters, Mauricio (Mau) Contreras not only sheds light on a crucial aspect of plant immune receptor activation but also pays tribute to the groundbreaking work of Peter Moffett and other scientists who made a remarkable and oft overlooked observation two decades ago. Indeed, good science stands the test of time.
